Join
your fellow conservancy members, community volunteers and other
Pennsylvanians across the state for the "Great PA
Clean-up." Scott Township is sponsoring a township wide
clean-up. The township has set aside 4 locations for volunteers to
meet: Saint Simon and Jude Church on Greentree Road, Our Lady of Grace
Church on Kane Blvd, Glendale Fire Dept on Carothers Avenue, or Scott
Township Public Works Building on Old Greentree Road near the corner of
Lindsay and Greentree Roads.
On
Sunday, April 20th from Noon to 3 p.m., our conservancy will be cleaning
up the Kane Woods Conservation Area. The meeting place for the
conservancy cleanup will be at the Whiskey Point Trailhead parking area
and newly constructed shelter on the corner of Main St. and Scrubgrass
Rd. across the street from the Veterans Bridge.
Call
Don McGuirk, 412-276-3222, Bob Gamble at 412-221-5321 or
Jane Sorcan
412-276-5820, to volunteer and for details.

The
traffic island at Hope Hollow and Washington Pike, across from Flynn
Tire, is maintained by
volunteers from the township. Although it is not a conservancy sponsored
project, we do like to offer support for the planting and for the fall
clean-up. It is supported by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.
They
provide everything needed for the planting.
Volunteers should park at
the end of the Flynn Tire parking lot closest to the traffic island.
Usually the planting will only take an hour or two. Call Jane
at 412-276-5820, or Mary
at 412-279-7154 to volunteer. Or just show up!!!

We would love to have
people volunteer to "adopt" and care for one of the small
flower gardens we have on the traffic island at Cochran and Greentree
Roads throughout the summer. Please consider helping out. You need not
be a conservancy member to volunteer, so volunteer and bring a friend.
